In my younger years, I had been engaged in more than a few occupational interests. I found myself using all I had gathered in a job working with and for my good friend Greeley Wells on his five-acre property in the mountains of the Applegate lake area of southern Oregon.
Sometimes builder, sometimes videographer, sometimes gardener, arborist, and mason… in the course of my work, I trimmed this branch out of one of the maple trees.
I was mesmerized by the shapely world inside and had to light up its dark inside–of what beauty the rotten life cycle brings.
The base of the light is of Tulikivi soapstone left over from a Massive rocket stove I assisted on in the course of a major upgrade to Greeley's reality. Win-Win!
