Elephant
When Rod Jacobs of unique woods approached me one day while I was visiting his mill with the offer of a piece of Curley big leaf maple to carve, his only caveat was that I use the bark inclusion that had left this wing wrap of a shape... We both found it quite interesting.
The challenge begun, I set to turning the piece over and (before I had A tractor!) over and over, three mouths of mulling over this piece through quite actual wind rain and snow of the pacific nw. Then I flipped it one more time to have the complete elephant looking at me from within, and it smiled as it said “if you'd only asked, I've been In here. All along...”
